Often called Manchester of India for the textile industries, the second largest city in Tamilnadu was hosting the second edition of the Dusk marathon. A noble initiative developing the otherwise busy city’s interest towards the sport and with the proceeds going to Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT) educational scholarships.

Running in Coimbatore, even if it’s well past afternoon isn’t really pleasurable. Enough emphasis was laid by the organizers in the event descriptions for the runners to keep themselves hydrated from the day prior to the marathon. Measures taken or not, in route hydration was a necessity.
The last part of the race brought deliverance to the flinching eyes of the photographers and the runners, with the sun putting up a a dazzling show of colours before taking a bow.
Post the efforts and the pain endured, time to light up the night.
“We are here to stay. We are here to provide Coimbatore a seamless running experience.” The post marathon words from the organisers would be the perfect manner to sum a young event in a young marathon city. The intent is clear, the roots are deep and the belief is strong. Plans for the 2017 edition have been laid out already and it promises to be bigger and stronger.
