In a marque event combining a 100+ kms. cycling run and a night marathon, Chennai saw a combined effort put forward by Round Table India, Chennai Runners, Dream Runners, Cool Runners, Clean Chennai Campaign and the Tamil Nadu Cycling Club, all working towards one common goal - Providing quality education and infrastructure to the underprivileged kids.
The support from the atheletes and the amateurs was strong and the numbers showed that. For around 400+ cyclists in various categories to turn up, for what wasn’t a race but just a ride in the extreme weathers was a strong step forward.
The lovely stretch past Marina Beach, through OMR all the way touching Mahabalipuram is the best route Chennai has to offer. Weekend accounted for not so heavy traffic and the open stretches past the city lines made the extreme hard work worth.
4o odd degrees, 100+ kilometers, peak afternoon, it wasn’t going to be easy, of course.

Superstar Suriya has been a regular supporter and a source of encouragement for welfare events in Chennai and places around. The fans waited for their favourite star to show up and when he did, he was blown away with the crowds’ enthusiasm and warmth. Selfies were in order, indeed.
Riders kept arriving back to the venue, having completed the long run. Some achievement this.
There was barely any waiting between the two events and the marathon leg of the event kicked off. Island grounds till the end of the Marina stretch, Sun was gone, weather had calmed down and the sea breeze made for a pleasant evening run.
A wonderfully managed event for a great cause and an overwhelming response from the participants. There was no official podium or timings to be achieved, it was a challenge for self and a contribution towards a noble target. Everyone who was present could go home with a sense of achievement.
