The weather had cleared up from the previous night, the locals had kept telling us that the Gangapur Dam, serving as the first stretch of the run, on clear mornings makes for a gorgeous sunrise spot and photograph opportunities. We took our spots before dawn, the mist added to visibility going even lower, fishes & birds disturbing the still dam water were clearly audible, the place felt pleasantly placid. With an hour to go before the first flag off, one almost forgets that there are going to be runners storming in soon. As the sun creeped up lazily, overlooking the water body on one side and rich grasslands down the slope on the other, it was evident that the locals weren’t exaggerating one bit.
After crossing the initial country side pretty much in the dark before the sunrise, the runners were welcomed on the beautiful long stretch alongside the dam with views to savor. As the little mist in the air cleared, the dam and the grasslands shone dramatic hues, runners and all the others were in awe alike. What a morning run to go to. Spirits were bound to be high.
After the long straight stretch the route took the runners to a bumpy downhill trail, the usual pro runners were just warming up, for the amateurs, the tricky slope was proving to be not so easy.
